Central NY guy choked and beat coworker so viciously he’s charged with attempted murder

According to authorities, a man beat and choked to death his coworker in an Oneida residence on Friday morning as he lay motionless on the floor.

At 6:56 a.m., officers were dispatched to the residence on Genesee Street, where they discovered the man assaulting his colleague, according to a news release from the Oneida police. They reported that officers promptly apprehended the man and placed him in detention.

Naronn Harvey, 29, of Utica, allegedly became combative while visiting a colleague, according to the police. They reported that although another colleague and family members attempted to intervene, Harvey continued to assault them as well. The victim was transported from a nearby hospital to a Syracuse hospital due to their severe injuries, according to the police.

Harvey faced charges of:

  • Second-degree attempted murder
  • First-degree strangulation
  • Second-degree assault
  • Third-degree assault
  • Prohibiting the well-being of a minor

At his arraignment in Oneida City Court, he was remanded to the Madison County Jail on $500,000 cash bail or $1,000,000 surety, according to the police.
