Two tragic, unrelated shootings occurred in Southeast D.C. on Saturday, less than eight hours apart. The police are investigating both incidents. The Metropolitan Police Department reports that the initial shooting occurred slightly before 7:45 a.m. in the 3500 block of A Street, Southeast.
The officers discovered a male who had been shot upon their arrival. Despite the arrival of DC Fire and EMS, the man was pronounced deceased at the location of the shooting. The man has not been identified so that his family may be notified of his passing by the police.
As of yet, no suspect information has been disclosed, and the motives for the incident remain unknown. At 3:45 p.m., less than eight hours later, officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of L Street, Southeast in response to a report of an additional gunshot. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a guy who was injured by a gunshot. Despite efforts by DC Fire and EMS to save his life, the man passed away at the site.
The individual was identified by the police as Southeast D.C. resident Charles Towles, 22, years old. As of yet, no suspect information has been disclosed, and the motives for the incident remain unknown. The shootings have not been linked by the police.
