In the wee hours of Sunday morning, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) received a report of a solitary car accident that occurred in the 800 block of E Platte Ave. in Colorado Springs.
According to CSPD, three individuals from the vehicle were taken to a nearby hospital by emergency personnel. Sadly, one of the passengers passed away due to their injuries, while another is currently receiving treatment for life-threatening injuries. The driver also received medical attention and was subsequently charged in connection to the accident. However, CSPD did not disclose the specific charges at this time.
The individual who was taken into custody is none other than Jermell Johnkint, who is just 23 years old and was behind the wheel at the time of the incident.
CSPD has reported that the car was moving towards the east on Platte Ave when the driver lost control and collided with the median curb. The car then overturned and eventually halted in the median. The crash seems to have been caused by excessive speed and impaired driving, as per CSPD’s findings.
