Vincent Manirakiza, a 20-year-old resident of Buffalo, has been sentenced by Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn today. The sentencing was carried out before Erie County Court Judge Kenneth Case, who issued an indeterminate sentence of 5-15 years in prison for Manirakiza.
Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn declared the sentencing of Vincent Manirakiza, a 20-year-old resident of Buffalo. The verdict was pronounced this morning before Judge Kenneth Case in Erie County Court. Mr. Manirakiza was handed an indeterminate sentence of 5-15 years in jail.
Sadly, a young female victim who was only 17 years old lost her life at the site of the incident. To respect her age and the sensitivity of the situation, her name was not revealed. The other victim, a 19-year-old male, suffered an arm injury and was taken to ECMC for medical attention.
In October 2022, a 16-year-old male from Buffalo who had been charged with Murder in the Second Degree (Class “A-I” felony) pleaded guilty to the highest charge in the indictment. He is currently serving an indeterminate sentence of 12 years to life imprisonment as a juvenile offender.
On June 28, 2023, Vincent Manirakiza accepted responsibility for his involvement in a devastating homicide by pleading guilty to one count of Manslaughter in the Second Degree. He acknowledged his guilt as an accomplice and was charged with a Class “C” violent felony.
