A 10-year-old Mississippi boy has been arrested for public urination

Quantavious Eason, a 10-year-old from Mississippi, was arrested last week for public urinating. His mother, Latonya Eason, was informed about it at a meeting; the incident occurred in the parking lot of a lawyer’s office. The Senatobia Police Department planned to issue a warning at first, but as more police came, the plan changed.

As her son was suddenly encircled by police cars, Latonya described the police response as harsh. However, Senatobia Police Chief Richard Chandler justified the response by claiming that an officer witnessed the incident firsthand. He did admit, though, that taking the child to the police was a mistake.

Quantavious was charged with ‘kid in need of services and was later released to his mother. The arrest has traumatized the family, particularly Quantavious. Latonya voiced rising anxiety about the potential psychological consequences and her son’s future interactions with police enforcement.
