A jury has been selected in the Enterprise murder-for-hire trial

A jury has been selected for the Enterprise murder-for-hire trial of two brothers after several hours of proceedings in a federal courtroom in Montgomery, as reported by WDHN.

Darin and Jason Starr, who are brothers, are currently facing trial for the murder of Sara Starr, Jason’s wife. The tragic incident occurred in 2017 when Sara was found shot to death in her driveway. She was a beloved teacher at Enterprise and her untimely death has left many in the community reeling with shock and grief. The trial will hopefully provide some closure for those affected by this heinous crime.

As per the charges mentioned in the indictment, Jason Starr allegedly offered Darin Starr compensation in the form of a 2016 Triumph motorcycle and an undisclosed sum of money to carry out the murder of Sara Starr.

The panel of jurors consists of 12 individuals, along with 4 alternates, of which 13 are women and 3 are men.

Following the selection of the jury members, the court took a break for lunch and plans to resume the proceedings with the opening statements.

According to prosecutors, the case holds sufficient circumstantial evidence to establish the guilt of the accused brother.

During the trial proceedings, the representative of Jason, Jim Parkman, presented his opening statement before the jury.

Parkman once famously said, “No matter how thin you make a pancake, it still has two sides to it.” This quote highlights the idea that everything in life has two perspectives or sides, and it’s important to consider both before making a decision or passing judgment. This can apply to various situations, from personal relationships to professional decisions. Ultimately, taking a balanced and objective approach can lead to better outcomes and understanding.

According to his beliefs, Jason did not pay Darin to murder Sara. Instead, he provided him with funds to purchase and fix a motorcycle that was deemed as damaged.

As per Parkman, men often tend to say things that they don’t actually mean. It’s just a part of their nature.

According to him, errors were committed during the initial inquiry into the homicide back in 2017.

During the trial, Aimee Cobb Smith, who is representing Darin Starr along with Jay Taylor, urged the jury to carefully examine the transactions between the brothers. She emphasized that at one point, Darin had acknowledged that taking someone’s life was a grave offense. Smith’s statement highlights the gravity of the situation and underscores the need for a thorough evaluation of the evidence presented in the case.

According to Smith, the crucial factor in this case is timing.

The trial, which has undergone numerous delays over the course of the past 18 months, has been rescheduled multiple times. According to official documents, the sheer scope of the case and the amount of discovery involved necessitated additional time for investigation, as well as the review of files and preparation for the trial.

According to Smith, it’s crucial to hold the government accountable for the evidence that is presented and to scrutinize what it does and does not prove.

Aaron Dixon, a WDHN Reporter, is currently in Montgomery to cover the ongoing trial. The trial, which commenced on Monday, is anticipated to extend into the following week.
