Mocobizscene- A fatal shooting occurred on the east side of Indianapolis Sunday night, near a liquor store. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department stated that officers were alerted near 5442 E 21st St. shortly before 7 p.m. Upon arriving at the scene, the police found a man in a vehicle who had sustained gunshot wounds.
According to IMPD, officers provided assistance to the victim until medical professionals arrived at the location. Sadly, the man was later declared deceased. Victory Liquors is located at 5442 E 21st St. according to Google Maps.
Police investigation revealed that a vehicle crash had taken place prior to the arrival of officers at the scene. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) has identified a person of interest in the case. The names of the victim and the person of interest have not been released by the police.
According to IMPD Public Information Officer William Young, it is still unclear whether there is any connection between the shooting incident that occurred at the liquor store on 21st Street and the shooting that took place at the Texas Roadhouse on Shadeland Avenue.
“Our officers in the east district have been quite busy this evening, as one can imagine,” Young stated. “We have not made significant progress in these investigations yet, but we hope to gather more details as the night progresses.”
