Washington, D.C. – The Metropolitan Police Department’s First District and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Violent Crimes Task Force have successfully collaborated in an investigation that resulted in the arrest of two additional suspects connected to a string of armed business robberies in Northwest, Washington, D.C.
In response to an incident on February 11th, where 24-year-old Kamanye Williams from Northwest, D.C. was shot by a Special Police Officer during an attempted armed robbery in the 800 block of 7th Street NW, there have been arrests made. Williams had managed to disarm a Special Police Officer and was in the process of actively robbing the business when another officer shot him at the scene. Following his arrest, two firearms were confiscated, and Williams now faces multiple charges, including Armed Robbery and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.
The investigation discovered that Williams was also accountable for various other armed robberies at the same venue, starting from July 18, 2023. In each case, Williams took advantage of an unlocked door, pointed a gun at the staff, and demanded cash from the safe before quickly escaping.
Yesterday, the MPD and FBI made significant progress in their investigation as they identified more individuals involved in the crimes. Two suspects, namely Michael Robinson, aged 33 from Capitol Heights, MD, and Gianni Robinson, aged 26 from Northwest, D.C., were successfully apprehended under the arrest warrants issued by the United States District Court.
The charges brought against them include Conspiracy to Interfere with Interstate Commerce by Robbery. This development is a major step forward in resolving these violent crimes.
