Armed robberies of New Jersey pharmacies demanding medicines result in prison sentence

Mocobizscene- A man who admitted to committing a series of armed robberies at pharmacies during the summer of 2022 has been handed a prison sentence of 11 years and six months, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

In 2023, Charles Johnson, a 28-year-old resident of Irvington, pled guilty to three counts of Hobbs Act robbery and one count of brandishing a firearm during the robbery of three pharmacies. Johnson specifically targeted these pharmacies to obtain oxycodone and other prescription medications. Recently, he was sentenced in Camden Federal court, as confirmed by authorities.

Through extensive video surveillance footage, authorities were able to identify Johnson as the suspect. Johnson received a prison sentence and was also sentenced to three years of supervised release. However, there was no comment available from Johnson’s public defender at the time.
