BESSEMER, Ala. – The Alabama Department of Corrections Law Enforcement Division is looking into a security issue at Donaldson Correctional Facility.
The prison is on lockdown, but there is no danger to the public, according to ADOC. Derrol Shaw, 35, was arrested and charged with first-degree promoting prison contraband, possessing certain prohibited persons, and making a terroristic threat. Shaw was treated at the hospital for minor injuries.
He is receiving a life term without the possibility of release on murder and first-degree robbery charges in Jefferson County.
The ADOC’s Law Enforcement Services Division will conduct more inquiries.
