MADISON, Ala. – Authorities have confirmed that a multi-vehicle crash is expected to cause significant traffic delays for drivers in the Madison area.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office was attempting to apprehend a male suspect as part of a narcotics investigation at a Madison business.
The suspect fled the scene in his vehicle, leading to a police pursuit. The pursuit ended when the suspect ran a red light at the intersection of Wall Triana and Madison Boulevard, causing a collision with several vehicles, including a sheriff’s patrol car.
The suspect is now in police custody and is expected to face multiple drug and traffic charges. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in the incident, but one person was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
The Madison Police Department has issued a traffic alert stating that the area may be completely blocked for several hours. Drivers in the area are advised to avoid the area while multiple agencies and emergency crews clear the scene.
The Huntsville Police Department has confirmed that their officers assisted the Madison Police Department with traffic control.
