MADISON COUNTY, Ala. – After almost a decade of service, K9 Zuka, a North Alabama police dog, will retire from his successful law enforcement career and enjoy his golden years.
Born in the Czech Republic, Zuka is a Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix who has been with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office since 2014. He has assisted in multiple criminal captures and helped find lost and elderly individuals.
Zuka has been involved in some high-profile cases. He helped his former partner, Deputy Matt Lane, track down a gun that was used in a shooting after the suspect threw it from a vehicle.
Zuka was just allocated to Deputy Courtney Region, where he will have a safer, more relaxed lifelong home. Zuka will leave the company on Friday, August 25.
