DC hit-and-run death victim identified; police search for driver

Washington: The guy who was allegedly struck and murdered over the weekend in D.C. by a hit-and-run vehicle has been named by authorities.

Around one in the morning on Saturday, January 20, 39-year-old Delaverlure Dunbar of northwest Washington was struck by a car while crossing 16th Street in or near the south crosswalk at Newton Street, according to police.

Dunbar suffered potentially fatal injuries and was sent to a nearby hospital. On Sunday, the wounds claimed his life.

According to the police, he was hit by a Toyota Camry motorist who was heading north on 16th Street. According to investigators, the motorist left the scene. If you have any information, please text your tip to 50411, the department’s text tip line, or call the police at 202-727-9099.
