The Arlington County Police Department’s Special Victims Unit is investigating George Porcha, a 53-year-old individual from Rockland County. Porcha, who hails from Spring Valley and currently resides in Winterville, North Carolina, is facing charges related to several sexually-based offences. These allegations date back to incidents that were reported in 2022.
Investigators are now expressing concern about the possibility of there being more victims.
In October 2022, the police department launched a thorough investigation following a tip-off regarding potential incidents involving minors and Porcha. These incidents allegedly occurred between 2000 and 2003 when Porcha served as a girls basketball coach at Washington-Liberty High School (formerly Washington-Lee High School).
Two girls who were minors and students at Washington-Liberty High School at the time of the alleged instances have resulted in the issuance of warrants this month as a result of the investigation. There are no plans to release any additional information about the investigation.
Porcha, a highly regarded coach, had an impressive career before facing legal troubles. He gained experience and made significant contributions at various institutions, including Woodbridge and TV Williams High School. Additionally, he had the opportunity to oversee college basketball programs at esteemed universities such as West Virginia University, Virginia Tech, Boston College, and Ole Miss.
