Mocobizscene-Authorities apprehended a young individual shortly after a bomb threat prompted the evacuation of a high school in Union County. At approximately 11:23 a.m. on Monday, police were called to Abraham Clark High School on East Sixth Avenue in Roselle in response to a bomb threat report.
More than 800 students in grades 9 to 12 attend the school, which was evacuated on Tuesday for a thorough search of each room in the building. The police conducted the sweep but did not find any explosives on the property. No charges have been filed as of Monday night, although police have identified a juvenile suspect. It is unclear at this time whether the suspect is a student at the high school. Further details have not been provided by officials.
Mayor Donald Shaw of Roselle expressed his gratitude to the first responders on Monday for their prompt action in handling the incident.
“In times like these, we must recognize the resilience and solidarity of our community,” Shaw emphasized in a statement on Monday. “We should stand united, offering support to each other, and reaffirming our dedication to ensuring the safety of our community.”
The police are currently investigating the threat, as stated on Monday night.
In a statement, Roselle Acting Chief Helder Freire emphasized the utmost priority given to the safety and well-being of students and residents. He stressed the significance of collective vigilance and prompt reporting of any suspicious activity as a means to ensure the safety of the community.
