Little Havana Incident Leads to Attempted Murder Charges for Miami Man

Mocobizscene- A Miami man is facing charges of attempted murder after a November shootout that resulted in the injury of another man. According to reports, the incident was sparked by an argument over drugs at Los Brother’s L.A. Restaurant, a popular eatery in Little Havana.

Eltohm Matute, a 24-year-old, was apprehended by Broward Sheriff’s deputies on December 13 on a warrant for his involvement in an early morning altercation. According to Local 10 News, the incident took place at around 1 a.m. on November 18, with Matute being accused of being the one who fired the shot.

During the court proceedings held yesterday, Matute was confronted with a total of six charges. Among these charges were five counts of shooting a deadly missile and one count of premeditated attempted murder. The allegations against Matute were supported by statements given by a driver who claimed to be unknowingly involved in the incident. The driver confessed to detectives that Matute had deceived him by talking about “helping someone,” which sharply contradicted the ensuing act of gunfire.

According to Local 10 News, the gunfire not only hit the 45-year-old victim but also put the lives of five individuals at risk in a nearby apartment on Fifth Street. The officer who responded to the scene reported finding shattered door glass, indicating the close proximity of the incident to the apartment. Thankfully, no one in the apartment was injured. Detectives were able to gather evidence using Shot Spotter technology, a gunfire detection system that detected the sound of 11 rounds being fired in Miami’s Riverside area.
