One of the bloodiest attacks by Palestinian terrorists since the start of the ground invasion claimed the lives of nine Israeli soldiers in an ambush in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged to carry with the offensive despite international condemnation and demands for a cease-fire.
United States President Joe Biden issued a warning that Israel was losing support from other countries as a result of its “indiscriminate bombing” of Gaza, and the UN General Assembly voted overwhelmingly to demand a humanitarian cease-fire. Over 18,400 Palestinians and 113 Israeli soldiers have died as a result of the fighting.
Yoav Gallant, Israel’s defence minister, expressed optimism that the two parties will find a solution to continue the military campaign in Gaza despite acknowledging differences with the United States over it.
