Two individuals from New Jersey are being sentenced to prison for their involvement in a late-night robbery that resulted in the shooting of a taxi driver.
Walter Williams-Lang, a 22-year-old resident of Elizabeth, has been handed a prison sentence of approximately 7 years (87 months) by federal authorities. Similarly, Naeem Jackson, a 24-year-old individual from East Orange, has received a sentence of about 8 1/2 years (103 months).
They both admitted guilt for attempting Hobbs Act robbery, conspiring to use and possess a firearm during a violent crime, and possessing a firearm as convicted felons.
Jackson admitted his guilt in one charge of Hobbs Act robbery and one charge of carjacking.

On May 14th, 2022, federal authorities revealed that the duo confessed to wielding a loaded firearm while demanding the taxi driver’s fare, ultimately resorting to shooting the driver.
On May 5th of that year, Jackson confessed to brandishing a loaded gun and demanding the taxi driver’s fares, cell phone, and wallet before stealing the driver’s vehicle. Both Williams-Lang and Jackson received prison terms, along with three months of supervised release.
