The Metropolitan Police Department announced Tuesday night that they have arrested a teenager in connection with the armed carjacking of an FBI agent in Washington, D.C. last month.
Devonta Lynch, a 17-year-old resident of southeast D.C., was apprehended on Monday for his involvement in the incident that occurred on November 29th in the 100 block of 12th Street NE. Metro police have decided to charge Lynch as an adult under Title 16.
Last Wednesday, at approximately 3:44 p.m., Lynch was reportedly one of two suspects who approached the agent as they were exiting their vehicle and forcefully took the car at gunpoint.
The car was located in the 1000 block of 15th Street SE approximately 25 minutes later.
FBI Agent Carjacked in Washington, DC: Police Report
According to the FBI, the individuals involved in the carjacking of an FBI agent on Wednesday, November 29th, are still at large. It remains unclear which individual in the group is Lynch.
It is unclear whether or not Metro police have made a second arrest.
The Metro police are currently being aided by the FBI Washington Field Office’s Violent Crimes Task Force in an ongoing investigation. The investigation is still active, and there is a joint reward of up to $20,000 available for anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible.

According to Metro police’s carjacking crime statistics page, the number of carjackings in D.C. has significantly increased in the past year. As of Tuesday, there have been 924 carjackings in 2023, with 77% of them involving firearms. This is a stark contrast to the 429 carjackings reported by Metro police during the same time period in 2022.
