DC Man Faces Murder Charges for Allegedly Killing Motorcyclist in Temple Hills Following Ongoing Dispute

Authorities announced on Monday that Christopher Cross, 46, will be facing multiple murder charges in connection with the fatal shooting of Temple Hills resident Brian Akinfe in September.

On the evening of Saturday, September 2, the Prince George’s County Police Department received a call to investigate a collision between a motorcyclist and another vehicle at the intersection of Branch Avenue and St. Barnabas Road. Akinfe received medical assistance after sustaining several gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, he tragically passed away on Tuesday, September 12th, over a week later.

Investigators have stated that Cross and Akinfe were acquainted with each other and were engaged in an ongoing conflict. The owner of the esteemed HVAC company, Akinfe Air, is a self-employed individual who takes great pleasure in his beloved hobbies. One of his cherished pastimes includes riding his motorcycle.

Cross was taken into custody and accused of committing first- and second-degree murder, along with various other weapons and related offenses. At present, he is being detained in Washington, DC and will soon be extradited to Prince George’s County for his upcoming court hearing. Authorities are currently investigating the incident.

Brian’s obituary fondly recalls him as someone who will always be remembered for his vibrant personality, unwavering work ethic, and zest for life. It mentions that his absence will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
