The Prattville Police are reaching out to the public, seeking their assistance in locating and apprehending a dangerous killer who is still at large. In August, a tragic incident occurred in Prattville that claimed the life of Kylen Smith, a sixteen-year-old teenager. He was fatally shot on the 600 block of Covered Bridge Parkway, in broad daylight.
More than three months have passed since the incident, and the police are still actively investigating. Unfortunately, the identity of Smith’s killer is still unknown and they have not been apprehended.
Sgt. Ariel Davis stated that the evidence gathered by investigators has led them to believe that the suspect was on foot during the shooting, rather than being in a vehicle.
“We believe that this was not a random act of violence. Rather, we suspect that the victim had some connection or familiarity with the person who shot him.”
“We are seeking your assistance. If you have any information or even a suspicion, please reach out to us,” urged District Attorney C.J. Robinson.
“There may be individuals who possess knowledge but chose not to get involved or were afraid to do so.”
Authorities assure tipsters that their identities will remain confidential, ensuring that no one will find out who they are. The hope is that the reward, which is currently being offered, will supply investigators with the necessary information to solve the case.
Tony Garrett, spokesperson for Crime Stoppers, emphasized the organization’s commitment to maintaining anonymity. “Crime Stoppers has never had anyone to be identified. We’re always anonymous,” Garrett stated. He urged individuals to reach out and contact them without hesitation.
“We are offering a reward of $3,000 for any information that leads to an arrest. The reward will be paid within 30 days.”
Robinson expressed deep sorrow and emphasized that the individual in question was not a young man with a juvenile record or any gang affiliations. He emphasized that the loss of this young man was tragic and untimely.
“We urge you to assist us in removing a dangerous criminal from our streets.”
