Court documents indicate that a 33-year-old Davenport man is in custody on suspicion that he broke into a residence and attempted to stab a victim, as charged by Davenport Police.
Paulino Martinez is charged with first-degree burglary and going armed with intent, according to court documents.Arrest affidavits indicate that Davenport Police were dispatched to the 1800 block of West 48th Street shortly before 10:15 p.m. on Wednesday in response to a report of a disturbance.
Police arrest affidavits allege that Martinez forcibly entered and damaged the front door of a victim. Police allege in affidavits that “once inside, (he) produced an edged weapon and assaulted the victim.”
According to police affidavits, Martinez “attempted to stab the victim multiple times in the victim’s living room with the intent to cause bodily injury or serious injury.”
Martinez “had no right or privilege to the property because it was the victim’s residence,” according to affidavits. The assault weapon, a knife, was discovered and formally admitted as evidence.
Court documents indicate that Martinez is being detained in the Scott County Jail on a cash-only bond of $25,000.
