On Friday, a murder charge was filed against a 26-year-old man who is currently in jail without bail. This is in relation to the discovery of an 18-year-old woman’s body near a freeway ramp in Pico Rivera.
According to court records, Marvell Beroit from Hawthorne has been charged with murder. The California Highway Patrol officials arrested him on Oct. 23 for his alleged involvement in the death of Emily Bortee, a woman whose identity has been confirmed.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Bortee’s remains were discovered on October 16th in a shrubbery area near the on-ramp to the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway heading north on Rose Hills Road.
According to the CHP officials, they arrested Beroit after conducting a thorough investigation, but they did not disclose any further information. The Medical Examiner’s Office of the county has yet to determine the cause of death and has listed it as deferred.
