Woman’s murder in the presence of a toddler leads to the arrest of a 19-year-old suspect

Atlanta police have made an additional arrest in connection with the murder of a woman in northwest Atlanta last month. A second suspect is now in custody and being questioned for their involvement in the crime.

According to Atlanta authorities, Ne’Jah Cox, a 21-year-old, was fatally shot while driving near an apartment complex on Center Street in Atlanta at approximately 2 a.m. on May 18th.

According to Bryan Mims from Channel 2, Cox was merely a passenger in the vehicle when the shooting occurred. Additionally, her young child, who is a toddler, was present in the back seat at the time.

Atlanta police took 19-year-old Cartez Harvey into custody on Thursday in relation to Cox’s death.

Harvey faced charges of murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during a felony, and second-degree cruelty to children.

In connection to Cox’s death, officers apprehended 23-year-old Jamal Baker last month.

After being apprehended, Baker was taken to the Fulton County Jail where he was booked on multiple charges. These charges include murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and cruelty to children in the second degree.
