Norah Horwitz faced charges on Monday when a grand jury indicted her for the tragic stabbing death of her father, the renowned Virginia Beach dentist, Dr. Abbey Horwitz. Virginia Beach police were called to a residence on Wren Place in the Birdneck Point neighborhood just before 9 a.m. on June 3rd.
Dr. Horwitz, who runs The Art of Dentistry in Virginia Beach, has an impressive track record of leadership. He held the positions of President at both the Hebrew Academy of Tidewater and the United Jewish Federation of Tidewater.
According to The Virginian-Pilot, Smolin testified that Norah Horwitz informed him that she had been tidying up her room when she decided to go to the kitchen to fetch some trash bags. Additionally, Norah mentioned that her father, Abbey Horwitz, was present near the kitchen sink, which is where the trash bags were usually kept.
During the trial, Smolin provided testimony stating that Norah had confided in him about her father molesting her in the past. He further testified that Norah expressed her fear of being raped by her father, although she did not explicitly verbalize the threat. Instead, she conveyed her apprehension through her emotions and feelings.
Smolin took the stand as the sole witness during the preliminary hearing. The judge made a ruling that there was sufficient evidence to proceed with the case and send it to the grand jury. Norah will face charges for second degree murder and unlawful wounding while committing a felony.
