Mocobizscene- Indiana State Police have announced the arrest of the woman who is believed to be responsible for vandalizing over 50 vehicles in a downtown parking garage. The suspect was apprehended after being spotted near the statehouse by the police.

Denise Honorio, a 34-year-old resident of Indianapolis, was taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon by an Indiana State Capitol Police officer. She was apprehended while wearing the exact same outfit she was seen wearing during the parking garage vandalism incident that occurred on February 2nd.

In court documents, it is stated that when the capitol police officer presented Honorio with a surveillance photograph of the suspect responsible for the vandalism, Honorio confidently identified the woman in the photograph as herself.

Not only that, but he also allegedly stole her purse.

The robbery at Indiana University is currently under investigation by the Indiana University Police Department, according to state police. In court documents, Honorio stated that she relocated to Indianapolis approximately a year ago after previously residing in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Honorio continued to deny vandalizing the vehicles in the parking lot, even though she had previously admitted to being the woman in the surveillance footage.

Despite the police finding her in possession of the victim’s purse and driver’s license, Honorio vehemently denied committing the robbery. The police observed that the vandalism in the parking garage and the robbery took place in a span of less than three hours.

Honorio is currently facing preliminary charges for several serious offenses. These charges include robbery, which is classified as a Level 3 felony. Additionally, he is being charged with battery that resulted in moderate injury, also classified as a Level 6 felony. Lastly, he is facing charges for vandalism that caused damage exceeding $50,000, which is also considered a Level 6 felony.

Indiana State Police Captain Bob Burke commended Officer (Robert) Johnson for his actions and dedication to his patrol efforts.

“We are grateful for the exceptional collaboration among various central Indiana police agencies, as it exemplifies the power of teamwork and dedication. Thanks to his sharp awareness and quick identification of the suspect, not only was the individual responsible for the vandalism apprehended, but we were also able to uncover additional serious crimes associated with this same suspect. This investigation serves as a testament to the effectiveness of working together towards a common goal.”
