On Saturday night, two subway passengers reportedly punched a police officer in the head while on a Bronx subway car. The incident was partially captured on camera, and the attack was a bold and brazen one.
Police and law enforcement sources have reported that 24-year-old suspects Marquise Webb and Brian Innocent were apprehended for allegedly assaulting an NYPD lieutenant. The incident took place at the 238th Street station in the Bronx after 9 p.m., when the officers ordered the duo to exit a subway car.
The Post has obtained footage that captures two men repeatedly punching a uniformed officer in the face and body in the corner of a subway car. Throughout the assault, the lieutenant tried to defend himself against both attackers.
It can be seen that two men were present in the subway car while the assault was taking place. As the chase intensifies, the suspects are captured on additional footage running away from the scene while the police, including the injured lieutenant, pursue them with tasers in hand.
Authorities were alerted to a fight involving a knife between two groups at the 1 train station in Kingsbridge. Police were called to the scene, but one of the groups had already left by the time they arrived. According to the police, the officer from NYPD sustained cuts and bruises to his eye as a result of the incident. Fortunately, he was immediately taken to St. Barnabas and is currently in stable condition.
According to the authorities, Webb and Innocent escaped onto the train tracks but were eventually apprehended. Police stated that they found a knife, box cutter, and straight razor during the arrests. According to the NYPD, Webb from Yonkers and Innocent from New Rochelle have been accused of multiple charges including assault on a police officer, criminal possession of a weapon, resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration, criminal trespassing, and disorderly conduct.
