According to CBS, A truck driver convicted of multiple charges related to a fatal crash was sentenced on Friday. Jesus Puebla received an 11-year prison term for his involvement in a devastating collision in Weld County that claimed the lives of a Wyoming family.
The victims, the Godines family, included Emiliano, 51, Christina, 47, Aaron, 20, and Tessleigh, 3 months old. Additionally, Halie Everts, 20, was also killed in the crash. All five victims were from Gillette, Wyoming.
“I’m disappointed in the lack of joy I got to experience because of this man. The last two years have hurt us mentally and physically, and I don’t wish this pain of losing a family member on anyone,” said Haden Everts, the brother of one of the victims.
The crash occurred on June 13, 2022, when the SUV carrying the victims was rear-ended by a US Postal Service box truck in northern Colorado near Highway 66. According to investigators from the Colorado State Patrol, the SUV was in the left lane of Interstate 25 in Weld County and had slowed down due to traffic when the semi-truck collided with it.
