Teenager from Maryland taken into custody for homicide in Northwest DC

Mocobizscene- In December, a man was killed in Northwest D.C., and the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has now announced the arrest of a teenage boy in connection with the crime.

On December 18, 2023, officers were called to the 5400 block of Illinois Ave. NW at approximately 11:45 a.m. in response to reports of gunshots. Upon arrival, they discovered a man who had sustained gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to a hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

The individual has been identified as Jihad Darden, a 27-year-old resident of Northwest D.C. A 15-year-old boy from Bowie, Maryland, was apprehended by the MPD and the Prince George’s County Police Department on February 7. He will face charges of first-degree murder while armed after being extradited to Washington, D.C.
