Teenage Suspects Arrested For West Covina Liquor Store Clerk’s Killing

MocobizsceneTwo males have been arrested and booked in connection with the October killing of a liquor shop clerk in West Covina, according to police.

On October 8, 34-year-old Karanvir Singh was slain at Big Bob’s Liquor store. Two days after the murder, a 17-year-old juvenile was apprehended. Arturo Ornelas, 19, of Monterey Park, and Ventura Vanegas, 18, of Alhambra, were arrested as part of an ongoing investigation, according to an updated news release from the West Covina Police Department.

Both Ornellas, who was detained on Nov. 16, and Vanegas, who was arrested on Dec. 7, were arrested in connection with the same killing and booked on suspicion of murder, robbery, accessory to a crime, and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Investigators believe all three suspects are members of the same criminal street gang, the identity of which has not been revealed by police. According to the news announcement, Ornelas was freed on bond while Vanegas is being held without bail.
