Surviving Widow Finds Beauty in Unexpected Places After Encounter with Baltimore SWAT Officer

According to a GoFundMe launched in his memory, Anthony Ward’s hobbies and passions kept him busy, but he was at his best when he was with his wife of 10 years, Alicia Garcia Ward.

Tragically, Ward, aged 36, lost his life in a devastating car accident that occurred on Saturday, April 20. The incident took place on the inner loop of I-695, as reported by Daily Voice.

Ward, who graduated from Graham High School in 2006, achieved remarkable academic success at the University of Cincinnati. Four years later, he graduated summa cum laude with a master’s degree in criminal justice, as mentioned in his obituary on the Ruck Funeral Home website.

Ward joined the BPD in 2011 after working for Interpol. At the time of his death, he was a member of the SWAT team, although the crash occurred while he was off-duty.

According to his obituary, Anthony had a passion for golf, WWII historical posters, and Bengals football. He was a world traveler who indulged in these interests.

Ward’s family campaign describes him as someone who was always on the go, constantly striving to improve himself, acquiring new skills, and exploring new interests. He had a passion for collecting vintage clothing, antique signs, and other items that many would overlook. He found beauty in things like rusted-out Indian Motorcycles, old neon signs, and antique furniture.

According to his loved ones, he was rarely seen without his distinctive handlebar mustache.

“He had a deep passion for exploring new and extraordinary destinations, always accompanied by his beloved wife, Alicia,” the page states. “Their greatest joy came from simply being in each other’s company, immersing themselves in unfamiliar surroundings, and connecting with diverse cultures.”

Services took place on Sunday, April 28th at the Ruck Funeral Home in Towson. You can find Anthony Ward’s full obituary by clicking here, and if you would like to contribute to the campaign for Alicia, you can make a donation by clicking here.
