On Tuesday, authorities arrested a woman from Huntsville who is suspected of embezzling funds from her previous employer.
Cassandra Scott has been charged with first-degree theft of property.
Southern Scape Landscaping has accused her of embezzling money on multiple occasions over a long period.
Captain Terrell Cook from the Madison Police Department has revealed that the sum that Scott allegedly embezzled is considerably higher than the minimum of $2,500 required for theft of property in the first degree.
According to Cook, as the investigation progresses, it is likely that the embezzlement amount Scott is charged with could increase.
After being detained at the Madison County Jail, Scott, who is 42 years old, has been released on bond. She has a felon exam scheduled on August 21, which she is required to attend.
