Reward for information on 2014 murder in Montgomery raised to $15,000

Mocobizscene- A 2014 cold case homicide, the murder of Charlie “Jay” McCord in his barber shop on Mt. Meigs Road in Montgomery, has prompted a $15,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. It has been almost ten years since the incident occurred, and now District Attorney Darryl Bailey, CrimeStoppers, and the Montgomery County Cold Case Unit are urging the public to review new video footage in the hopes that it may trigger someone’s memory.

Furlesia Bell, Charlie “Jay” McCord’s sister, passionately appeals to anyone with information, saying, “We need you to come forward to give his kids, our family, and the community peace. I don’t know the circumstances that brought that info to you, but whatever you’re facing, please help us find closure.”

According to Bell, a spokesperson for Action 8 News, it is crucial to have justice and accountability in this case. He emphasized the importance of finding out who killed McCord, as his eight children deserve to know the truth. Bell mentioned that living with unanswered questions can be challenging for McCord’s children, and he often hears them asking about their father’s killer. McCord, also known as “The Barber Man,” had only been running his shop for about a year before he was tragically killed.

The police suspect that the motive behind his murder was an attempted robbery. McCord was only 36 years old at the time of his death. If anyone has any information about the owner of the vehicle, the suspect’s identity, or his whereabouts, they are urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 215-STOP.
