Rahway shooting injures Perth Amboy police officer and two others; suspects apprehended

On Saturday night in New Jersey, a shooting occurred resulting in the injury of a police officer and two other individuals. Several individuals have been taken into custody in connection with the incident.

According to officials, the execution of a search warrant in front of 1076 Broad Street resulted in a Perth Amboy police detective being shot up to three times.

The officer sustained injuries to their legs and was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Luckily, their condition is currently stable.

The shooting incident resulted in injuries sustained by two individuals, one of whom was identified as the suspected shooter who was hit in the leg.

According to the police, the gunman was in the company of others when authorities approached them. As the officers tried to escape the scene, the gunman started firing at them.

After the incident, Rahway Mayor Raymond Giaccobbe took to Facebook to announce that all the suspects have been apprehended.

Matthew J. Platkin, the Attorney General of New Jersey, released a statement regarding the shooting on Thursday morning.

Platkin expressed his gratitude towards the officers who take on enormous risks every day to ensure the safety of our communities. As the chief law enforcement officer of the state, he is determined to collaborate with law enforcement and community partners to put an end to gun violence in the state. He further added that they will do everything in their power to prevent such instances of violence against law enforcement in the future.

New Jersey has experienced a concerning trend in the last seven months – six police officers have been shot.
