Punxsutawney Phil and his wife, Phyllis, have become proud parents to a son and daughter, who have recently been given their official names, and they couldn’t be more perfect.
In March, the legendary rodent and his longtime partner welcomed their twins into the world, marking their first journey into parenthood. This joyous occasion came just weeks after Phil’s accurate prediction of an early spring.
Phil and Phyllis’s keepers were completely taken aback by the arrival of the babies. It was a complete surprise as nobody had any idea that Phyllis was pregnant. The exciting discovery was made one morning when someone went to feed the couple. Even though they were unexpected, the babies brought immense joy to everyone involved.
Punxsutawney Phil’s companions excitedly shared the news of the births on his Facebook page. They eagerly invited his fans to join in the fun by suggesting names for the adorable little ones. Fans had the opportunity to cast their votes and participate in the naming process from April 30 to May 9.
In celebration of Phyllis’ inaugural Mother’s Day, President Tom Dunkel and Vice President Dan McGinley of The Punxsutawney Groundhog Club Inner Circle organized a special ceremony to declare her official title.
