Poll by Beacon reveals that Trump’s criminal conviction increases his favorability in Tennessee

According to the Beacon Poll, Trump’s popularity in Tennessee has increased following his felony conviction.

In Doral, Florida, former President Donald Trump addressed his supporters at a campaign rally held at Trump National Doral Miami on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. The event was captured by AP photographer Marta Lavandier.

According to a recent poll conducted by a watchdog group, Tennessee favors Donald Trump over Joe Biden as the preferable candidate in this year’s presidential election, despite the former president’s recent felony conviction.

According to the Beacon Center of Tennessee, the guilty verdict on Trump’s hush money has made 34% of Tennesseans more inclined to vote for the Republican candidate. Interestingly, only 22% of voters seem to be dissuaded from voting for Trump.

“The numbers on Trump’s guilty conviction are fascinating and in some ways counterintuitive,” Beacon Center’s Mark Cunningham said. ” A substantial percentage of Tennesseans believe that the charges were political but also believe he did commit a felony.”

According to a recent survey, forty percent of respondents stated that the result of Trump’s trial would not affect their voting decision.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is included in a three-way race with President Biden and former President Trump, according to the poll, where Trump has a 30-point lead.

Cunningham noted that although some individuals who claim to be more inclined to vote for Trump following his conviction had already been Trump supporters, it is evident that Trump has managed to gain more voters since the last poll. The majority of these voters have defected from Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s camp.

According to the Beacon Center, the majority of Tennesseans perceive the charges against Trump as political. However, there is a division of opinion regarding whether he is guilty of a felony, with 38% of the population believing he is guilty and 41% asserting his innocence.
