Mocobizscene-As reported by DC News Now, Washington As a group attempted to escape a Chanel store, an armed Special Police Officer discharged their weapon, prompting an investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).
At approximately 5:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the store situated in the 900 block of I St., NW, in response to gunfire. They discovered that a group of at least six individuals, one of whom was armed with a fire extinguisher, had entered the Chanel store.
Second District Commander Tatjana Savoy stated in a press briefing that the individual in possession of the extinguisher was employing it as a weapon to distract employees and customers while the rest of the group seized merchandise.A quantity of merchandise remains undetermined as the group stole it.
A Chanel-employed armed Special Police Officer discharged a round as the gang attempted to escape the establishment. Savoy stated that no injuries were reported and that the bullets “did not have an effect.” His affiliation did not extend to the Metropolitan Police Department.
The police warned about a white sedan and stated that further information would be provided following an investigation. The MPD’s Internal Affairs officials were dispatched to the site to conduct further investigation.
