3 young men drown while swimming in the Gulf Coast

Police have reported that three men visiting a Florida beach tragically drowned on Friday night while swimming in the Gulf Coast waters.

According to Bay County, Florida Sheriff Tommy Ford, two young men from Alabama arrived in Panama City Beach on Friday afternoon and went for a swim. The victims have not been identified beyond their residency and age.

Police received a distress call around 8 p.m. when three men were struggling in the water. Search and rescue teams scoured the area and located all three individuals by 10:30 p.m. Unfortunately, despite efforts to save them, they were pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. Ford provided this information.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, Ford extended his sympathies to the families of the victims and offered his gratitude to Bay County Emergency Services, the FWC, and the Coast Guard for their assistance in the rescue operations.
