Police officer in New Jersey crashes patrol car, arrested for DUI

Mocobizscene- An East Newark police officer has been charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) following a crash involving his police vehicle.

According to the Hudson County View, Officer Brian Aparicio, a seasoned veteran, was involved in a collision with a parked car at the intersection of Frank E. Rodgers Boulevard and Sherman Avenue at around 6 a.m. on January 26. The incident occurred on the border with East Newark while Officer Aparicio was on duty.

According to the View, Aparicio was found unconscious and unresponsive, unable to be awakened by a witness who contacted the police. Additionally, he declined to take a chemical breath test.

According to payroll records, Asparicio has been a member of the retirement system since 2013. Harrison police did not respond to New Jersey 101.5’s request for more information on Thursday morning.
