Police investigating shooting of 10-year-old boy on 13th Street in Southeast DC

WASHINGTON— In the bustling city of Washington, a piece of news has emerged that has caught the attention of many. A 10-year-old boy in Southeast, D.C. was wounded in the leg by a gunshot on Saturday night, according to the local authorities.

Police responded to a call about gunshots in the 3400 block of 13th Street around 8:20 p.m. They discovered a child at the scene who was conscious and breathing. The child was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

According to authorities, the shooting incident in question involved two individuals engaging in gunfire, potentially trapping the young boy in the crossfire. It is worth noting that the boy was in the company of his mother when the incident occurred. During a news conference on Saturday night, an official from the MPD stated that they do not believe he was the intended target of this situation.
