A 46-year-old Burlington County school administrator has been charged with stealing, authorities said.
Colleen Schroeder, 46, of Hainesport, is accused of stealing over $700 in cash from the main office at Helen L. Beeler Elementary School in late February, Evesham police announced on Monday, March 4.
The superintendent of the Evesham Township School District issued a statement stating that Schroeder was already on unrelated leave and will stay so until the case is resolved.
Police claimed the stolen money belongs to the Evesham Township School District.
On Friday, March 1, Schroeder was arrested without incident and released on a summons, according to police.
Schroeder was released pending his first appearance hearing in Burlington County Superior Court.
Evesham Township School District Superintendent Justin Smith issued the following statement:
“The Evesham Township Board of Education is aware that the Beeler Elementary School Principal, Colleen Schroeder, has been arrested and charged with theft. The district has been in contact with the Evesham Police Department and intends to fully cooperate with them. Ms. Schroeder is now taking an unrelated leave. The district takes theft allegations seriously, and Ms. Schroder will stay on leave awaiting the outcome of this case. Due to the current criminal allegations, the board is unable to comment further at this time. Please be reminded that everyone is deemed innocent until proven guilty.
