WASHINGTON -A man from Maryland is being held on suspicion of involvement in a fatal shooting that occurred overnight in Northeastern D.C.
The culprit who shot and killed 35-year-old Darius Robinson of Northwest, D.C. was identified by police as 25-year-old Charles Demarco Best of Clinton, Maryland. The victim and the suspect, according to the investigators, knew one another.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department responded to a complaint of gunfire about 3 a.m. on Sunday in the 1600 block of Rosedale Street, Northeast. Officers discovered a male inside the house when they arrived. Darius Robinson, 35, was recognized as the person who died at the site.
After the shooting, according to the investigators, the suspect ran from the site, but the officers found him and apprehended him right away. Best was consequently taken into custody and accused of second-degree murder.
There is an active and ongoing investigation into this fatal incident.
