At his comedy shows, Pete Davidson enforces a strict policy of no phones. In fact, he is not hesitant to call out those who break this rule.
During his performance at City Winery in New York City on Thursday, November 2nd, Davidson, who is 29 years old, spotted a venue employee taking out their phone.
An eyewitness reported that while performing on stage, Davidson halted his set and yelled “F—k you” at the staff member who was recording.
After instructing his security guard, the former Saturday Night Live star escorted the individual out of the room. Davidson emphasized that he shells out $10,000 to secure the phones of his audience members. Despite the incident, he continued with his set as scheduled, and the matter was not mentioned again throughout the rest of the show. It’s worth noting that like many other comedians, Davidson has implemented a phone-free environment for his live performances, requiring attendees to store their devices in sealed Yondr pouches.
Pete Davidson, the reigning king of Staten Island, has had a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs over the years, from achieving professional triumphs to experiencing broken engagements. In the early 2010s, he made a significant mark in the entertainment industry by featuring on Guy Code in 2013 and becoming a part of Saturday Night’s cast.
On Tuesday, October 31st, City Winery revealed that it would be hosting the “Pete Davidson & Friends” comedy series on Thursday. The initial performance was such a hit that a second showing was scheduled at 10:30 p.m.
Davidson entertained the crowd with anecdotes about his personal highs and lows. He shared his battle with addiction and even teased about his efforts to find a suitable partner for his mother, Amy Davidson. Davidson also made light of his desire to improve his public image following a car crash.
Back in March, reports surfaced about a car accident involving Pete and his former girlfriend, Chase Sui Wonders. The incident occurred when Pete lost control of his vehicle while driving in a residential Beverly Hills area, causing him to hit the side of a house. Unfortunately, the couple split just five months after the accident.
According to a statement from the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office, they are of the opinion that the accident involving Mr. Davidson and the subsequent collision into a home occurred due to his reckless driving. However, they are grateful that no one suffered any serious injuries as a result of the incident. The statement went on to highlight the devastating consequences of reckless driving, noting that traffic fatalities in Los Angeles have reached a 20-year high in 2022.
Some celebrities have found that the best way to find peace is to take a break from the chaos that reigns on social media. Selena Gomez, Kim Kardashian, and Sarah Hyland are just a few examples of stars who have taken a hiatus in order to refresh their minds and rid their mentions and search history of negativity. Even the “Lose You to Love Me” singer herself has taken a step back from social media in order to prioritize her mental health and wellbeing.
In June, it was confirmed that Pete had been charged with a misdemeanor count of reckless driving. He was then ordered to complete 50 hours of community service and 12 hours of traffic school as part of his punishment.
Pete made a surprising revelation on Thursday that left many people stunned. According to him, the recent incident was his first time being sober in almost 15 years. Despite the gravity of the situation, he managed to keep a sense of humor intact. He jokingly said that he was now open to signing up for Make-A-Wish requests just to get some good publicity. He added that such measures become necessary when one “drives into a house.”
