New York State Police Arrest Three Local DUI offenders

Driving under the influence resulted in the apprehension of three individuals by the New York State Police on November 19, 2023. Stakeholder No. 1, Jesse W. Boula, 39, of Waddington, New York, was apprehended at approximately 2:40 p.m. on State Highway 345. Boula claimed he swerved his gold 2018 Toyota T100 to escape a deer, but the vehicle collided with a tree. Upon arrival, troopers observed indications of impairment, and subsequent tests revealed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.16%.

A subsequent incident transpired on State Route 37 in Westville at 7:06 a.m. Abraham J. Thomas, 33, of Hogansburg, New York, was apprehended subsequent to the collision of his blue 2012 Chevrolet Silverado with a tree. Thomas asserted that he veered in order to avoid a deer. The individual exhibited symptoms of impairment, and tests revealed a BAC of 0.12%.

Third in custody was Timothy S. Helm, 55, of Massena, New York. This pertained to a previous occurrence that transpired on Roosevelt Road in Massena on September 28, 2023, wherein Helm’s gray 2005 Chrysler Sebring collided with a number of trees. A blood test revealed that Helm, who was transported to Massena Memorial Hospital for minor injuries, had a 0.18% BAC.

All three individuals were released on appearance tickets and have been assigned court dates. Thomas and Boula will appear before the Westville and Waddington Town Courts, respectively. Helm has a court date in the Town of Massena.
