Mocobizscene- According to the New York Post, Izzeddin was recently placed on supervised release after a judge determined that prosecutors had failed to meet the deadline to file an indictment against him. According to Lance Lazzaro, Izzeddin’s lawyer, the judge had no option but to release him as he ruled that there was a violation.
According to the Post, the district attorney’s office had to file an indictment within six days of Izzeddin’s arrest to ensure that he would remain in custody.
According to Lazzaro, the countdown for Izzeddin’s police custody should have started on December 27th. This is because Izzeddin was taken into custody around 3 a.m. on December 28th, and in New York, any arrests made before 9 a.m. are considered to have been made on the previous day.
However, according to Lazzaro, the countdown began once Izzeddin was officially charged later that day at approximately 1 p.m. on December 28. As a result, prosecutors missed the deadline.
According to the Washington Post, the judge had limited options and therefore decided on supervised release. As stated by the judge, “His hands are tied at that point.” According to Lazzaro, Izzeddin is innocent of the charges.
“There was no rape,” he confidently asserted, according to the Post. He firmly believes that there was absolutely no rape, and he is confident that this will be proven as more information comes to light.
