Mocobizscene- In connection with the deadly stabbing of another resident, a 27-year-old resident of a migrant shelter in New York City was charged with murder on Sunday, according to authorities.
A report of an ongoing attack prompted police to be called to the Randall’s Island shelter about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. After being stabbed in the chest, the man was transported by ambulance to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Authorities reported that the culprit was apprehended on the spot.
Amid a surge of asylum seekers into the city, Mayor Eric Adams stated in August that up to 2,000 refugees would be housed on the island in the East River. According to statements made last month by Adams and other officials, since spring 2022, more over 161,000 migrants had come and applied for local assistance.
