New Orleans police investigate Seventh Ward pedestrian death

NEW ORLEANS: Following a fatal collision Tuesday morning between the Seventh Ward and St. Roch districts, the   Orleans Police Department is conducting an investigation.

Just after midnight, police were called to the intersection of North Claiborne Avenue and Elysian Fields Avenue. A sedan driver reported to the NOPD that he was travelling west on North Claiborne when he passed through the junction of Elysian Fields.

After hitting the victim, the driver dialled 911. The sufferer flagged down an ambulance near Cleveland Avenue and South Derbigny Street; the driver took him to the hospital. The subject was pronounced dead by the EMS staff.
