On Thanksgiving, three individuals were fatally struck by driving under the influence or at high speeds in the South Los Angeles neighborhood. The LAPD South Traffic Division has been involved in nine fatal accidents over the past week and a half. A hospitalized 8-year-old is in critical condition, and detectives are concerned that the fatality toll will rise to ten.
The collisions involved a driver suspected of being intoxicated surpassing 100 mph, a driver suspected of being intoxicated exiting a liquor store and colliding with another vehicle, and a driver accelerating while under the influence of marijuana collides with and fatally injures a homeless man. The Los Angeles Police Department advises individuals to make advance preparations, refrain from operating motor vehicles under the influence, and exercise caution when traveling during the holiday season.
