Mother wounded, toddler killed in Prince George’s County, Md. shootout

Mocobizscene-  Prince George’s County police have announced the arrest and charging of two men with murder on Friday. These individuals are accused of causing the death of a toddler and injuring his mother during a shootout in Langley Park. Israel Fuentes, Jr., 33, and Johnny Alejandro Turcios, 28, both from Lewisdale, were apprehended by authorities on Friday in relation to the tragic demise of 2-year-old Jeremy Poou-Caceres.

The police stated that Mr. Fuentes and Mr. Turcios were engaged in a gunfight with another group of individuals at approximately 5:35 p.m. During the exchange of gunfire, both victims sustained gunshot wounds.

According to a press release from the police, there was a shooting incident on Thursday evening in the vicinity of where the mother and child were walking. The groups involved in the incident exchanged gunfire, and unfortunately, the mother and child were hit by stray bullets. The police believe that the victims were not the intended targets in this unfortunate incident.

The police have arrested the two suspects based on investigative materials and witness testimonies.

“We aim to bring solace to Jeremy’s grieving family with these two arrests,” stated Assistant Chief Vernon Hale. “However, it is crucial to note that this investigation is still ongoing. We are resolute in our commitment to apprehend every individual involved in this heinous crime.”

Mr. Fuentes and Mr. Turcios have been charged with first-degree murder, along with other offenses.

According to court records, Mr. Fuentes is currently being held without bond. His court appearance is scheduled for Monday. The charges against Mr. Turcios are not listed in the state’s judicial records.
