Mother and daughter from Ohio finally find each other after 54 years

In a heartwarming reunion, a woman who gave birth to a baby girl at Grant Hospital in 1970 was joyfully reunited with her daughter after 54 years. At the age of 16, she had delivered her baby at the same hospital where they shared their emotional goodbye all those years ago.

Carla Lemaster, now 70 years old, expressed her frustration with the policies in place during her time as a mother. She shared that these policies prevented her from seeing her newborn child and, even years later, hindered her ability to search for them.

At the age of 16, Lemaster found herself facing an unexpected pregnancy. Coming from a strict household, she knew that she wouldn’t receive the necessary support from her parents, despite their love for her.

During that period of her life, Lemaster experienced a dark and challenging time. She vividly recalls the moment when she had to deliver her baby all by herself, with no support or assistance. In a matter of moments, her beautiful little girl was taken away from her, leaving her feeling alone and overwhelmed.

Lemaster expressed his disappointment as he recounted how they quickly separated him from his daughter. “I didn’t even get the chance to hold her, or count her little toes,” he lamented.

For years, Lemaster was consumed by the question of where her daughter ended up.

Pamela Easley, a curious daughter, has always wondered about her origins. After obtaining access to her adoption records, she embarked on a search for Carla, her biological mother. It was a courageous act, but Easley eventually mustered the courage to send Carla a letter. Fortunately, the letter was received, and it became their primary means of communication for a while.

According to Easley, before their first phone call, they engaged in extensive communication through letter writing and sharing photos via mail for about a year.

On Wednesday, they finally had the chance to meet face-to-face. Together, they strolled through the corridors of Grant Hospital, and this time, the experience was completely different from their visit 54 years ago.

Lemaster shared a heartwarming story about singing “Happy Birthday” to her on March 20th. Despite her not knowing him, he believed that she could feel the sincerity in her heart.

The reunited mother and daughter are filled with excitement as they look forward to what the future holds. They can’t wait to meet their extended family from both sides, including Easley’s sons and LeMaster’s sisters. They are also eager to explore the beautiful sights of central Ohio.
